How Responses Sync to Google Sheets

Understand where Formfacade stores responses and how to stream every submission into a Google Sheet using Submit to Google Forms and Link to Sheets.

Quick Answer

Where do my Formfacade responses go?

When you import a form, Formfacade creates a managed copy that collects every submission. You can view responses right inside Formfacade's Responses tab. To also send them to a spreadsheet, make sure ‘Submit to Google Forms’ is on in Advanced settings, click Launch to open the underlying Google Form, open its Responses tab, and click ‘Link to Sheets’.

When you import a form, Formfacade creates a managed copy of your Google Form. Every response people submit is collected against that copy — and you have two places to read them: the Responses tab inside Formfacade, and a linked Google Sheet. This page explains that flow and how to turn on the Sheets connection.

Responses go to the Formfacade copy — not your original form

Don't worry if the original Google Form you imported from stays empty. Formfacade collects responses on its own managed copy of the form. That's by design — your responses are safe in Formfacade and in the Google Sheet you link below.

Where your responses live

Once your form is live, a single submission flows like this:

StageWhat happens
Respondent submitsThe submission is captured by the Formfacade
Submit to Google FormsThe response is forwarded into the linked Google Form
Link to SheetsGoogle Forms appends the row to your linked Google Sheet

You can read responses in two places: Formfacade's Responses tab (no setup needed) and the Google Sheet (after you link it, below).

Step 1 — Check “Submit to Google Forms” is on

This toggle forwards each submission into the underlying Google Form, which is what feeds Google Sheets. When you import a form via the link method, it's usually already on — but it's worth confirming.

Open Advanced settings

In the Formfacade editor, click the ⚙️ Advanced setting button in the toolbar next to your form's title.

Go to the Advanced tab and confirm the toggle

In the panel that opens, select the Advanced tab. Make sure Submit to Google Forms is toggled on. If it isn't, turn it on and click Save.

On the Advanced tab, confirm “Submit to Google Forms” is on. The Launch button (Step 2) sits at the top of this same panel.

Save before you leave

If you had to switch the toggle on, click Save before closing the panel. If responses aren't reaching Sheets later, this is the first setting to re-check.

Step 2 — Launch the underlying Google Form

At the top of that same Advanced tab, find Edit this form with Google Forms and click Launch. This opens the Formfacade-managed copy of your Google Form in a new tab — the form that actually stores your responses.

Now connect that Google Form to a spreadsheet so every submission streams in live.

Open Responses and click “Link to Sheets”

In the Google Form, open the Responses tab and click Link to Sheets.

Choose a destination spreadsheet

Pick Create a new spreadsheet (Formfacade names it after your form) or Select existing spreadsheet, then click Create.

Every new submission now appends to that sheet automatically — timestamp and all.

Viewing your responses

You never have to leave Formfacade to read responses. The Responses tab gives you a status board (Abandoned, Submitted, Completed, Trash) so you can track each submission through your workflow.

So you have two synced views of the same data: the Responses board in Formfacade and the Google Sheet. Use whichever fits the task.

Tip

Managing responses as a pipeline — statuses, assignments, and follow-ups — gets its own guide. For now, just know both views stay in sync automatically.

Verify the sync

To confirm everything is wired up end to end:

  1. Open your published form and submit a test response.
  2. Check the Responses tab in Formfacade — the submission should appear under Submitted within seconds.
  3. Open the linked Google Sheet — a new row should be there too.

If the response shows in Formfacade but not in the Sheet, re-open Link to Sheets. If it doesn't appear at all, revisit Submit to Google Forms in Advanced settings.
